Riding with Robinson
This is a fully annotated version of George Augustus Robinson’s 1840 journal of a two-month trip through the interior of the Port Phillip District. The text was previously published in 1977, in the Records of the Victoria Archaeological Survey series, but was poorly annotated and contained a number of inaccuracies and misread passages. In this publication Robinson’s text is fully referenced, with detailed endnotes. In addition, there are biographical entries on almost all of the Europeans (squatters, convict servants, and government officials) Robinson mentions in his journal. The book is comprehensively indexed. Copies are available for purchase only from the bookshop of the Royal Historical Society of Victoria, 239 A’Beckett Street, Melbourne
